For several years, QuickBooks has encouraged business owners to shift from the desktop version of their software to the online version of their software. Avizo has worked with closely with our clients to counsel them through the pros and cons of transitioning away from the desktop version and now QuickBooks is making it official for those using the 2022 version – it’s time to make a change and we recommend moving to QuickBooks Online by May 31, 2025.
QuickBooks Desktop Discontinuation
All version of the 2022 QuickBooks Desktop will be discontinued after May 31, 2025. This includes QuickBooks Desktop Pro, QuickBooks Desktop Premier, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions v22. Business owners using the 2022 Desktop version must upgrade or they will lose the following features:
- Live technical support with QuickBooks or any of the other Intuit services that integrate with QuickBooks;
- Access to QuickBooks Payroll;
- Access to QuickBooks Desktop Payments;
- Online back up;
- Online bank feeds.
Those who choose to continue using the discontinued versions also will not receive critical security patches and updates that helps keep your sensitive business information secure.
Upgrade to QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Online is cloud-based and therefore accessible anywhere, so business owners can sync bank transactions or pay bills at their convenience. It also integrates better with other Intuit services.
